The lack of effective alternatives is costly.
A business analysis has revealed that one of the most expensive maintenance activities associated with public parks, outdoor events, and similar recreational venues is the removal of trash. Regardless of the recreational activity, it is crucial to effectively manage the waste generated by society. The challenge lies in reducing the cost of physically emptying 50-gallon trash receptacles. It is apparent that the reason these traditional waste disposal methods remain in use is the lack of effective alternatives. The cost disparity between manually collecting trash in public parks and utilizing fully automated collection services, as seen in residential neighborhoods, is quite striking. According to a cost analysis conducted by the City of Scottsdale in 2005, the cost of emptying a single 50-gallon trash bin at a public park exceeds $5.00. Since then, the cost of these services has continued to rise.
